India’s Coal Production in H1 FY’22

India’s coal production in H1 FY’22 (from 1 Apr’21 till 30 Sept’21) increased 12% y-o-y to 316 million tonnes (mn t). Odisha stood as the largest coal producing state of India in H1 FY’22 at 76 mn t, up 66% y-o-y. Madhya Pradesh was the second largest producer at 61 mn t, up 11% y-o-y, followed by Chhattisgarh at 59 mn t, down 10% y-o-y and Jharkhand at 52 mn t. It is to be noted that India produced around 716 mn t coal in FY’21.
