India’s coal imports rise 10% m-o-m in May

India’s coal imports rose 10% m-o-m in May’22 to 21 mnt, as per customs data. This rise in imports can be attributed to the increase in non-coking coal arrivals, especially from Indonesia amid strong demand from the power sector. On the other hand, India’s coking coal and PCI imports fell marginally by 1.5%, while met coke and anthracite imports fell drastically on the month.
