As reported by SteelMint earlier that few products will be extended from BIS quality control. Today, the Indian steel ministry has finally extended BIS under the Steel and Steel Products (Quality Control) (Amendment) Order, 2015.
In this new Quality Control Order 2015, the ministry has extended the date to 18 Sept’16 for IS grades, including IS 513, IS 1079, IS 1875, IS 5986, IS 7283, IS 10748 and IS 11513.
These grades includes steel products like Cold reduced low carbon Steel Sheet & Strip, Hot Rolled carbon steel sheet & strip, Carbon Steel Billets, Blooms and Bars for forgings, hot Rolled Steel Flat Products for Structural Forming and Flanging Purposes, Hot Rolled Bars for Production of Bright Bars and Machined Parts for Engineering Application, Hot Rolled Steel Strips for Welded Tubes & Pipes and Hot Rolled Carbon Steel Strips For Cold Rolling Purpose.
Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, the auto industry has asked the government to extend time to comply with the BIS notification, which was applicable from 15 Mar’16.
Currently, all auto manufacturers import specialized steel from countries, including Japan and Korea for production of various parts like roofs and panels.
