There has been a huge increase of nearly 95% y-o-y basis in India’s steel exports at 5.6 mn t during Apr-Aug’20 as against 2.9 mn t during Apr-Aug’19, the data by Joint Plant Committee (JPC) shows. Amid lockdown, mills explored overseas market as domestic demand remained dull. However, on a monthly basis, Indian steel exports have come down by 25% in Aug’20 on domestic demand revival.
