India’s crude steel production stood at 8.49 mn t, increased by 5% m-o-m in Aug’20 as against 8.07 mn t in Jul’20, Joint Plant Committee (JPC) reported. Production increased as mills ramped up capacity utilization on easing lockdown restrictions. However, the same dropped by 27.4% on y-o-y basis to 33.5 mn t in Apr-Aug’20 against 46.2 mn t over the same period last year.
