Higher plate prices and sluggish demand has led to drop in Indian plate prices by INR 500-1000/MT in traders market.However major steelmakers are yet to revise the plate prices in the domestic market.
However reference prices (basic) for plates (5-10 mm, IS 2062) for this week are heard at INR 38,500/ MT (ex-Delhi) and INR 38,500/MT (ex-Mumbai).The prices mentioned above are basic prices excluding GST @ 18%.
After the hike witnessed last week domestic plate market weakens since the buyers have already purchased and stocked the material and are resisting to purchase at higher prices.
Chinese Plate export offers rises amid higher profits in domestic market
Chinese plate export offers continued to rally and increased by USD 10/MT amid sustained domestic demand and healthier profits spread in the domestic market.Chinese mills are focusing majorly in domestic market owing to better sales realizations and seems reluctant to decline the export offers in global market.
Current export offers are recorded at USD 555-565/MT,FoB China.Last week the same was heard in the range of USD 545-555/MT,FoB basis.
Meanwhile plate prices in the domestic market are heard in the range of RMB 4,120-4,140/MT, equivalent to USD 630-633/MT including VAT.
Major mills are offering in the range of USD 570/MT,FoB basis but higher export offers leads to thin buying among overseas buyers.
Also, Baosteel a major steel giant has also made the largest increment in the plate prices by RMB 300/MT for Oct deliveries.Hence optimistic sentiments continue to prevail in the nation’s domestic market.
