Indian Plate Manufacturers Keep Prices Unchanged

Indian primary Plate manufacturers keep prices unchanged for June. Although some discounts have been offered on HRC and CRC. Current offers for 5-10mm commodity grade (IS 2062) plates are assessed at INR 29,000-30,000/MT (Excluding Excise and taxes) on ex- factory basis. Additional freight of 2,500-3,000/MT will be charged if transported to Delhi or Mumbai.

“We have rolled over our plate prices, where as discounts are being offered upto INR 1000/MT on HRC and CRC. Current offers for MS plates are around INR 29,500/MT (ex- factory), that is around INR 32,000/MT (Ex- Delhi, excluding excise and tax).

Prices have been kept unchanged on account of strict BIS (Bureau of Indian Standard)  norms, which will help control rising imports. Most of the Chinese mills do not have BIS registration.” said a marketing executive at one of the plate mill located in central India.

Plate prices in other parts of country are assessed at INR 32,000 (excluding excise & tax) at Chennai and around INR 31,500-32,000/MT ((excluding excise & tax) at Mumbai.

Imported Plate offers

Imported commodity grade (A36) plate offers from Indonesia are assessed at USD 410/MT CIF India, where as Chinese offers are assessed at USD 380/MT for commercial quality and USD 440/MT for high tensile on CIF India basis.

Plate’s imports to India rose 16% in April, according to JPC. Total import was recorded at 95,000 MT in April against 82,000 MT in March 2015.
