Indian Met Coke Prices Unchanged on Dull Demand

Unperturbed by any change in demand pattern, Met Coke prices in India have undergone no change. Demand has been dull not only due to liquidity issues on account of demonetization but also the user-industries being subjected to slowdown, lowering off-takes of the material.

Restricting any upturn in the domestic prices, import offers also have drifted downwards from the levels in the week last. The latest import offer for the 64% CSR Met Coke was reported lower at USD 301-302/MT CFR India. And, the recent import offer for the 62% CSR Met Coke was also reported down at USD 298-299/MT CFR India.

The export offers for the Met Coke variants were quoted at: USD 287-288/MT and USD 284-285/MT respectively on FoB China basis.

As the domestic producers have retained their prices, the prevailing ex-works prices of the Blast Furnace grade are at: INR 23,000/MT (east coast) and INR 23,500-29,000/MT (west coast).

As imports from China and Australia have been subjected to imposition of Anti Dumping Duty; Indian buyers looked at other origins, like Columbia and Russia.

The last known Met Coke offer from Russia was at USD 249/MT FoB, as revealed by an importer during a conversation with CoalMint.
