Indian Manganese Ore Imports Up by 37% in Jul’17

India imported around 0.35 MnT of Manganese Ore in Jul’17 against 0.25 MnT in Jun’17.

According to Customs data, Indian Manganese Ore import has substantially gone up by 37% M-o-M to 0.35 MnT in Jul’17, as compared to 0.25 MnT in Jun’17.

On Y-o-Y basis, India’s Manganese Ore imports rose by a massive 119% in Jul’17 against Jul’16. In Jul’16 the same stood at 0.16 MnT.

India relies heavily on Manganese Ore imports, and half of its Manganese Ore requirement is fulfilled through imported Ore. South Africa remained the largest exporter of Manganese Ore to India in Jul’17 at 0.21 MnT followed by Gabon and Australia at 0.07 MnT and 0.06 MnT respectively.

South Africa witnessed an increase of 21% M-o-M in its Manganese Ore exports to India in Jul’17. Gabon on the other hand recorded a mammoth 120% increase in its export volume to India, surpassing Australia to become the second largest exporter in Jul’17.
