Indian Finish Long Steel Exports drifted down by 22%

According to the recent data released by Indian customs, Finish long steel exports from India dropped by 21.83% M-o-M to 55,284 MT in Apr’18 against 70,724 MT in Mar’18.

Nepal remained the major favorable export destination of Indian Finish long steels and has imported about 29,362 MT (53.11%) & the second major importer was Myanmar about 5,901 MT (10.67%).

As per participants, finish long steel export has been declined due to surge price range in the Indian domestic market as demand was enough from infrastructure projects and as per data retained by SteelMint, domestic Rebar & Structure price range has been elongated by 1% to 5% during Mar-Apr’18.

Sub-Commodity wise it was noticed that Rebar exports registered at 42,793 MT in Apr’18, down by 11.57% against 48,395 MT in Mar’18 & Structure – 9,624 MT down by 47.31% against 18,266 MT in Mar’18 being followed by Wire Rod – 2,867 MT in Apr’18 down by 29.43% against 4,063 MT in Mar’18.

However, on year-on-year basis the exports registered growth of 7.84% with 55,284 MT in Apr’18 against 51,262 MT in Apr’17.
