Indian DRI, billet, rebar update – 26 Dec

  • Sponge iron prices rise by INR 500/t d-o-d
  • Rebar prices decline by INR 100-300/t d-o-d

India’s induction furnace (IF) steel prices fluctuated on 26 December 2025. Offers announced by mills varied by INR 100-500/tonne (t) compared to the previous trading session.

Sponge iron prices rose by INR 500/t d-o-d, with the sharpest increase of INR 500/t recorded in Durgapur, which took prices to INR 23,500/t. However, prices declined by INR 150/t in Raigarh to INR 22,750/t.

Billet prices fluctuated within the range of INR 100-300/t d-o-d across locations. The highest increase of INR 300/t was seen in Ramgarh, where prices rose to INR 37,800/t. In contrast, billet prices in Raigarh fell by INR 250/t to INR 37,250/t.

Rebar (Fe 500) prices fell by INR 100-300/t d-o-d. However, prices increased by INR 200/t to INR 45,500/t in Mandi Gobindgarh.

Overall, the semi-finished steel market witnessed a slight hike in offers following the hike in finished steel offers in different regions. Only need-based buying was observed in the market and so trade volumes were moderate as buyers remained cautious about bulk bookings.
