Indian DRI, billet and re-bar update – 26 Sep

India’s induction furnace (IF) steel market saw mixed trends as offers varied in the range of INR 50-300/tonne (t) d-o-d on 26 September, 2022.

Sponge iron prices varied in the range of INR 50-250/t. A major price drop of INR 250/t was observed in the Hyderabad market. A slight hike of INR 100/t was seen in the Jharsuguda market in Odisha.

However, billet prices were largely firm except in Durgapur, West Bengal, where prices fell slightly by INR 100/t.

Also, rebar (Fe 500) offers rose in the range of INR 100-300/t across regions. The highest price hike of INR 300/t was seen in the Jalna market.

Trading remained moderate throughout the day, especially in western, northern and eastern India on subdued trends prevalent during the Navratri season. However, in the central region, active demand was seen from the local buyers.
