Indian Billet prices unchanged; market waits for direction

Mumbai and Goa Billet
prices slip by Rs 100/MT and is trading at Rs 35,200-300/MT (Basic price) and
Rs 34,100/MT (Basic price) respectively while that of Ahmadabad jumped by Rs
400/MT and is offered at Rs 36,200 (Basic price).

“We expected demand
for Billet to go up as Iron Ore prices have been raised by miners in Odisha but
markets are unpredictable. Currently, Raipur Billet prices are hovering around
Rs 34,000/MT (Basic price),” remarked a city based trader.

“Kandla demand for
Billet has been increasing from sometime due to which the trading prices at Rs
35,400-500/MT (Basic price) have not corrected after they had moved up last,” said a trader from Kandla.

“Demand for Billet is
decent in Kolkata and Durgapur due to rising demand in finished products while
Raigarh and Mandi Gobindgarh demand for Billet has slowed,” reported market
sources.
