Indian bar and rod exports have been increased by 142% during the first eleven month of 2017 against the same period in preceding year, the latest released data by Indian customs showed.
The data compiled by SteelMint it is noted that, Indian bar and rods (under HS code 7213 & 7214) was about at 826,314 MT during Jan-Nov’17 against 341,491 MT in same period last year.
Nepal, Myanmar & Singapore were the major export destination of Indian bar & rods (HS 7213 & 7214) which imported about 157,965 MT, 125,247 MT & 116,830 MT, respectively in 2017. India’s JSW is one of the largest exporters of bars and rod.
India produces around 35 million metric ton of bars and rod annually including both of Indian large & medium/small scale Industries.
Indian steel exports has picked during calender year 2017 over limited availability of Chinese cargoes on stricter measures by Chinese government to curb pollution by eliminating low quality steel producers.
According to China’s custom data, country’s total steel exports from Jan to Dec slumped by 30% from 108.4 MnT in 2016 to 75.6 MnT in 2017.
