The steel maker had issued a global tender for purchase 150,000 MT of iron ore fines and lump on 05 Jul’17. The due date of the tender has been extended four times and is due on 27 Oct’17. As per sources, the company extended the due date owing to less participation.

The steel maker has an integrated steel plant of 3.4 MnT pa liquid steel capacity and has expansion plans to raise up to 7.3 MnT pa.

RINL’s iron ore sourcing pattern – The steel maker sources iron ore primarily from NMDC mines in Chhattisgarh. According to railway movement data maintained with SteelMint, RINL procured about 5.98 MnT iron ore from NMDC mines in Chhattisgarh in CY16.

The steel maker has considerably raised its iron ore procurement this year. So far in CY17 (Jan-Sept’17) it has sourced 4.88 MnT iron ore, up by 24% against the same time frame last year (i.e. Jan-Sept’16).

During Jan-Aug’17, the steel maker produced 2.89 MnT crude steel out of 4.48 MnT iron ore sourced.
