India: Thermal coal imports fall by 2% on month in Sept’21

India’s non-coking coal imports fell by 2%, m-o-m, to 9.32 mn t in Sept’21, extending a four-month declining trend, CoalMint data shows. Acute domestic coal shortage in the country has compelled industries to procure imported coal at higher prices. In the Jan-Sept’21 period, total Indian thermal coal imports stood largely unchanged at 111.42 mn t, on a y-o-y basis.
