Sponge iron prices in Rourkela increased by INR 300/t on 11 Jan’22. SteelMint’s assessment for sponge iron, C-DRI (70% lumps and 30% fines), stands at INR 32,900/t. A total of 4,000 t of deals were confirmed at INR 32,800-33,000/t exw Rourkela. Active demand was seen throughout the day and steel billet prices, which rose by INR 500/t today, kept sponge iron prices supported.
