SteelMint’s assessment for sponge iron produced from iron ore lumps, C-DRI (70% lumps & 30% fines), stands at INR 30,150/t ($402/t) exw-Rourkela, up by INR 150/t on 29 Nov’21. Around 4,430 t of sponge iron deals were confirmed at INR 30,000-30,300/t exw. According to sources, good demand and rise in steel billets prices, which rose by INR 150/t today, have kept sponge prices supported.
