Honourable Supreme Court of India has permitted Odisha Mining Corporation Ltd (OMC) to commence mining operations at Tiringpahar iron ore mines, via letter dated 03 Feb’20. The miner is allowed to initiate mining in 79.30 Hect of forest land in terms of order passed by the Court dated 16th May’2014. The mine has EC limit of 0.328 MnT.
The mining was put to halt pertaining to mining leases in excess to the statutory limits prescribed by Section 6 of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957.
OMC has recorded total iron ore production at 1.15 MnT in Dec’19, up 20% M-o-M against 0.96 MnT in Nov’19, as per data maintained with SteelMint.
Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) has completed public hearing for capacity enhancement for both Daitari and Koira mines, SteelMint learned from market sources. Also, the EC enhancement is in the process of approval. EC limit at Daitari mines is proposed to be increased to 6 Mnt pa from current EC of 3 Mnt pa. On similar lines, EC limit at OMC’s Kurmitar mines is proposed to be increased from current 2.4 MnT pa to 6 MnT pa.
