Salem Steel Plant (SSP), a unit of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), a government of India undertaking had floated a global tender on 27 Jun’17 to procure MS scrap (HMS -1 & Shredded scrap) for SSP and Alloy Steel Plant, Durgapur.
The bid submission due date for the same was 27 Nov’17 following which opening of bids was scheduled to take place on 28 Nov’17.
According to market sources report to SteelMint, SAIL has cancelled the tender owing to lower participation. As per sources only one company participated in the tender.
The company is currently fulfilling their scrap requirement through the companies that had participated in the previous global scrap purchase tender. Few of the Indian trading companies had participated in the tender.
The average scrap purchase price HMS is around USD 340/MT, CFR Chennai and around USD 360/MT, CFR Chennai.
