India: SAIL floats Tender for Procurement of 0.4 MnT Iron Pellets

Steel Authority of India (SAIL) has invited Pellet manufacturers for supply of Pellets from Iron ore Fines, which is laying at SAIL mines in Odisha & Jharkhand.

SAIL, India’s largest steel manufacturer in terms of production, has invited open bids from interested Pellet manufacturers for supplying 400,000 MT Iron Pellets for 1-year on conversion basis for its Rourkela & Bokaro Steel Plant.

As per notification, tender is invited for purchase of total 400,000 MT Pellets (300,000 MT for Bokaro Steel Plant and 100,000MT for Rourkela Steel Plant) at a monthly rate of 34,000 MT on conversion basis. The company shall supply Iron ore Fines from its captive mines namely Gua or Barsua or Kiriburu.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Manufacturer should be a single party, owning & operating Pellet plant having minimum capacity of 0.6 MnT pa
  • Manufacturer must have owned facility of beneficiation with minimum capacity of 0.6 MnT pa for beneficiation of Iron ore Fines
  • Manufacturer’s Pellet plant must be in operation for at least 1-year

  • Fe: 63.5% min
  • SiO2: 2.5% max
  • Size: (-) 18 to 9 mm 

Note: Used Iron ore Fines for pelletization should contain Fe 56-60%. However, after pelletization, Pellet should contain minimum Fe 63.5%.

SAIL had floated its last tender for purchase of 0.4 MnT Iron Pellets in the month of May, 2014.
