India’s power consumption rose to 30.3 billion units (BU) during 1-7 Jul’21, increasing by 18% y-o-y, as per latest reports. Power consumption in week 1 of July 2019 (pre-pandemic year) was recorded at 26.63 BU. Experts see the recovery in power demand as an indication of improving economic activity due to the easing of lockdown restrictions by the states and also due to a delayed monsoon.
