The total production of passenger vehicles, three-wheelers, two-wheelers and quadricycles in May ’21 stood at 806,755 units against 1,875,698 units in Apr ’21, as per data published by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).
Domestic sales snapshots:
- PV sales recorded at 88,045 units in May, down 66% m-o-m.
- Three-wheeler sales stood at 1,251 units in May ’21, down 91% m-o-m.
- Two-wheeler sales were at 352,717 units, down 64.5% on a monthly basis.
Rajesh Menon, Director General, SIAM, said: “Overall sales and production were impacted… Many members had shut down their manufacturing plants to divert oxygen from industrial use for medical purposes.”
