India: Odisha’s iron ore production rises 24%, y-o-y, to nearly 138 mnt in 2021

Odisha recorded total iron ore production at 137.85 mnt in CY’21, up 24% y-o-y as against 110.76 mnt in CY’20. Output inched lower in CY’20 due to production lag resulting from the transfer of auctioned iron ore mining leases amid the COVID-19 outbreak. JSW Steel emerged as the leading iron ore producer in CY’21 with 28.07 mnt followed by OMC with 20.24 mnt and Tata Steel 17.85 mnt.
