India: Odisha Iron Ore Dispatches from Merchant Mines Up 19% for Q1 in FY18

Odisha – India’s largest iron ore producing state accounts for nearly 50% of country’s ore production. Iron ore dispatch by Odisha based merchant mines stood at 17.74 MnT in for the Q1 in FY18 against 14.93 MnT in previous fiscal. It was also up by 33% Y-o-Y for the month of Jun’17 compared to last year.

Iron ore dispatch of merchant miners in Odisha was down by 3% M-o-M. State based merchant miners supplied 5.91 MnT iron ore in Jun’17 in domestic market compared to 6.11 MnT last month. The figures exclude movement for export and dispatches of captive miners – SAIL, Tata Steel & JSPL.

Among Odisha’s merchant iron ore miners – Rungta Mines dispatched highest quantity of ore followed by Serajuddin Mines and KJS Ahluwalia.

Rungta Mines’ iron ore dispatches increased 2% M-o-M to 1.80 MnT in Jun’17 compared to 1.75 MnT in May’17.

Serajuddin Mines dispatched 0.87 MnT iron ore in Jun’17 compared to 0.74 MnT in May’17, up 17% M-o-M. Iron ore dispatches of state owned miner – OMC were down by 44% M-o-M to 0.28 MnT against 0.50 MnT in Jun’17.
