India: NTPC attains 2 GW of installed renewable energy capacity

India’s largest power company NTPC has registered a renewable energy capacity of 2 gigawatt (GW). The company hit this milestone with the commissioning of the 92 megawatt (MW) floating solar project at Kayakulam, which has been built on the reservoir of its Kayamkulam gas power station in Kerala. With this, the company’s gross installed power capacity has reached 69114.2 MW, of which the major share is of coal-fired plants.
