Kalinganagar based Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited (NINL) dispatched 62,694 MT of pig iron in the last month which is second best June monthly dispatch of the company since inception.
The growth in pig iron dispatch was the result of the company’s incredible hot metal production in the first quarter of the present Financial Year. NINL produced 171,550 MT of hot metal in the Apr-Jun quarter which is the company’s second best Q1 hot metal production figures since inception.
Earlier in this calendar year, the company also recorded best March monthly dispatch of 91,922 MT of pig iron. The company also witnessed growth of pig iron export in the last fiscal (2016-17). It exported 191,207 MT pig iron which is 32% higher than the previous year’s export figures.
NINL has plans to execute the Blast Furnace Capital Repair in the second quarter of the present financial year. After the capital repair, hot metal production will be more than 3,200 MT per day after which the company aims to achieve new heights in pig iron dispatch.
NINL – promoted by MMTC Ltd, Industrial Promotion & Investment Corporation of Odisha Ltd (Ipicol), Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) and other government agencies – has set up an 1.1 MnT of integrated iron and steel plant at Kalinganagar, Odisha. It is the country’s highest exporter of pig Iron since 2004. Presently, the products are steel billets, pig iron and LAM (low ash metallurgical) coke along with Nut Coke, Coke Breeze, Crude Tar, Ammonium Sulphate and Granulated Slag.
