The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has suggested to the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) to cancel grant of extension to Ambuja Cement’s Raigarh coal washery for which environmental clearance was given in 2019. The coal washery has a capacity to process and supply 1.8 mn t/year of coal for Ambuja’s captive consumption. The company has one manufacturing unit at Bhatapara in Chhattisgarh as well as units located in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Kerala, and Himachal Pradesh, with combined capacity of 30 mn t/year.
