About 15.8 mn t of steel is likely to be consumed in construction of all the houses sanctioned under the Prime Minister’s housing scheme for all in urban areas by 2022, according to Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister for Civil Aviation & Housing and Urban Affairs. Puri said that nearly 8.4 mn t of steel has already been consumed in building 1.07 crore houses grounded under the scheme so far.
