India: NALCO achieves record-high production, sales performance in FY’26

  • Alumina sales surge by 31% y-o-y, aluminium sales rise 3%
  • Strong operational efficiency drives growth across value chain

National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), the flagship Navratna CPSE under the Ministry of Mines, Government of India, delivered an exceptional performance in FY 2025-26, achieving record-breaking production and sales since its inception over four decades ago.

Production reaches new highs

The company reached a historic milestone by recording its highest-ever production across multiple operational segments, further strengthening its position as a leading integrated player in the alumina and aluminium sector. Bauxite excavation stood at 77.01 lakh tonnes, while transportation reached 77.07 lakh tonnes, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 6.13%. Alumina hydrate production was recorded at 23 lakh tonnes, while calcined alumina output rose to 22.75 lakh tonnes, registering a strong 11.16% increase over the previous year. Aluminium cast metal production stood at 4.72 lakh tonnes, up 2.61% year-on-year.

In addition, NALCO achieved its highest-ever net power generation of 6,953 MU and coal production of 40 lakh tonnes, underscoring its robust operational efficiency and integrated business model.

Sales performance remains strong

On the sales front, the company delivered its best-ever performance across key segments. Total alumina sales surged to 14.46 lakh tonnes, recording a sharp growth of 30.74%, including domestic sales of 1.38 lakh tonnes. Aluminium metal sales stood at 4.74 lakh tonnes, with domestic sales reaching a record 4.61 lakh tonnes. Overall aluminium sales increased by 2.82% compared to the previous year.

Operational excellence underpins growth

Shri Brijendra Pratap Singh, Chairman-cum-Managing Director of NALCO, commended the collective efforts of employees and stakeholders while reviewing performance at the Annual Business Plan meet in Angul. He noted that the company’s achievements are a reflection of strong discipline, commitment, and a continued focus on exceeding internal benchmarks, reinforcing NALCO’s path toward sustained excellence.

Looking ahead, he emphasized the importance of strengthening capabilities to meet future demand, driven by a focused approach on Plant Efficiency, People Efficiency, and Process Efficiency, alongside accelerated adoption of digital initiatives and sustainability measures.

He also acknowledged the continued support of the Ministry of Mines and the Government of Odisha in enabling NALCO’s success. With its record FY’26 performance, NALCO has further cemented its position as a leading global aluminium player while setting new standards in operational excellence and sustainable growth.
