Melting scrap prices witnessed a sharp hike of up to INR 1,900/t ($25) in north India on 13 Apr’22. Strong substitute product (sponge iron) prices amid healthy transactions in semi-finished and finished steel products in major markets kept scrap prices supported. Prices in the near term may increase slightly, particularly in the western region, trader sources informed.
