Ship-breaking melting scrap prices in Gujarat’s Alang increased by INR 700/t d-o-d on 17 Jan’26, as per BigMint’s assessment. HMS (80:20) prices were assessed at INR 33,500/t ($369/t) exy. The regional market witnessed active trading, supported by an INR 500-600/t spurt in semi-finished and finished steel prices. Additionally, improved buying inquiries for scrap prompted suppliers to raise their offers today.
