Ship-breaking melting scrap prices in Gujarat’s Alang market dropped by INR 200/t d-o-d on 25 Feb’26. According to BigMint’s assessment, HMS (80:20) stood at INR 33,400/t ($367/t) ex-yard. The correction was driven by (1) a decline of INR 200-300/t in semi-finished and finished steel prices due to weak trading activity and (2) average demand for scrap from IF mills.
