Ship-breaking melting scrap prices in Gujarat’s Alang market fell by INR 700/t ($8.4/t) d-o-d on 6 Jul’24. HMS (80:20) prices were assessed at INR 35,500/t ($425/t) exy. Semi-finished steel prices decreased by INR 500-600/t in the region during yesterday’s trading session, driven by limited demand. The decline was further influenced by liquidity issues and the arrival of domestic scrap at lower prices, prompting scrap suppliers to decrease their offers today.
