Ship-breaking melting scrap prices in Gujarat’s Alang market decreased by INR 1,200/t d-o-d on 5 Jan’25, according to BigMint’s assessment. HMS (80:20) prices stood at INR 33,000/t ($366/t) exy. Trading activity in the semis and finished steel segments slowed during the previous trading session. This, coupled with limited buying enquiries for scrap at higher price levels, prompted suppliers to reduce their offers.
