India: MCL, NCL announce coal e-auctions on 29 Aug’26

  • MCL offers 2.4 mnt of G7, G8, G10-G14 coal 
  • NCL offers G7-G10 coal from four sources

Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd. (MCL) has scheduled its third single-window mode-agnostic e-auction for August on 29 August 2026, offering 2.4174 mnt of coal through road and rail modes. The auction will be conducted through MSTC.

Northern Coalfields Ltd. (NCL) has also scheduled an e-auction on 29 August, offering 212,000 t of coal from four sources. The NCL notice specifies road and rail dispatch options depending on the source.

MCL offers 2.4 mnt

MCL’s offering covers G10-G14 coal, along with G7, G8 and washery rejects, with the volume offered totalling 2.4174 mnt. The highest quantity is from Integrated LBL OCP, with 697,000 t of G14 coal by road. Samleswari OCP follows with 484,500 t of G14, while Lajkura OCP offers 300,000 t of G13. The notice also includes smaller rail-siding parcels linked to several mines.

The MCL notice also states that coal from Jagannath and Ananta OCP is subject to surface transportation charges for distances of 3-10 km.

NCL offers 212,000 t

NCL’s auction is concentrated on G8 coal from Dudhichua, Khadia and Krishnashila, along with G7 and G10 coal from Nigahi. The modulated price for G8 is INR 2,231/t across the three G8 sources, while Nigahi G7 is offered at INR 2,840/t and the G10 rail parcel at INR 1,660/t.
