- Wire rod prices rise by INR 2,000/t
A leading Indian steel mill has increased prices of long products effective 1 October 2026. TMT prices have been raised by INR 1,500/t, while wire rod prices have been increased by INR 2,000/t.
Including increases implemented during September, the mill’s cumulative price hike between 1 September and 1 October stands at INR 6,000/t for TMT and INR 4,500/t for wire rod.
TMT prices increase
The mill’s current billing price for TMT is around INR 61,500/t. TMT prices have increased by INR 1,500/t effective 1 October, following an INR 4,500/t increase implemented during September.
The latest revision comes amid improving demand, higher input costs and expectations of stronger construction and infrastructure activity.
Wire rod prices rise
The mill’s current billing price for wire rod is also around INR 61,500/t. Wire rod prices have increased by INR 2,000/t effective 1 October, following an INR 2,500/t increase implemented during September.
The increase comes amid higher input and operating costs and improved market sentiment.
Outlook
Steel long product prices are expected to remain supported in the near term by higher mill offers, improving demand and elevated input costs. However, the extent to which these increases translate into trade-level prices will depend on downstream buying activity and market acceptance of higher offers.
