India: MAHAGENCO extends 2.7 MnT Imported Coal Tender

Maharashtra State Power Generation Company limited (MAHAGENCO) has further extended due date for 2.7 MnT imported Steam Coal Purchase tender.

On 1 Apr’15, the company had floated a global tender in order to procure 2.7 MnT imported steam coal for its Nashik & Bhusawal Thermal Power Station on CIF/High Seas sale basis. The company first extended closing date till 5 May’15, and on 5 May’15, the company extended the date further till 14 May’15.

According to participants, the company extended the date on the request of bidders. Although the company received bids for import and pre-bid meeting had been conducted, it was extended on bidders’ request for clarification of various queries regarding different clauses and amendments in the tender.

India imported around 233 MnT Coal in FY15

As per SteelMint analysis, India imported around 233 MnT Coal in FY15 which was about 181 MnT in FY14. A quick drift of 28% was seen in India’s imports in FY15 as during the fiscal the country introduced additional power capacity for electricity generation.

India imported around 183 MnT Non-coking Coal in FY15

It has been assessed that out of total Coal import, the country imported about 183 MnT Non-coking coal (up by 34%) in FY15 as compared to 181 MnT in FY14. The country imported around 15.7 MnT in the first month of FY16 itself.
