India: JSW Steel commences 5 mn t expansion work at its Vijaynagar facility

JSW Steel laid the foundation stone for the new 5 mn t/year steel facility expansion at its integrated 12 mn t/year Vijayanagar Works. Spanning 600 acres, the new facility comprises a 4.5 mn t blast furnace (BF), two steel melt shops (SMS) of 350 t each, a 5 mn t/year hot strip mill (HSM) and other allied facilities. The INR 15,000 crore expansion project is expected to be completed by FY’24.
