Adani Enterprises has bagged a 1 mn t imported coal contract for supply to state-run power utility NTPC. The utility has sought 4,700 kcal/kg coal. NTPC has significantly reduced its coal imports from more than 10 mn t in FY’16 to 1.08 mn t in FY’21. The government has decided that power plants can use imported coal for blending to meet upto 10% of their total requirements.
