Steel major Jindal Steel and Power (JSPL) has drawn up plans of investing nearly INR 7,500 crore to set up a 2.25 mn t/annum integrated steel plant at Nellore in Andhra Pradesh, in close proximity to Krishnapatnam port, as per latest reports. The investment will be channelised through JSPL’s subsidiary Jindal Steel Andhra Ltd. The company has identified Krishnapatnam port as a strategic location for setting up the plant, as per sources. JSPL is targeting crude steel production of 8 mn t in FY’22.
