India is the world’s 4th largest iron ore producer. According to the recently released data by Ministry of Mines, Govt. of India, the country produced 16.3 MnT iron ore in Jun’17 which was 2% up compared to the production of 16 MnT in May’17.
Indian iron ore production was up by 7.9% Y-o-Y as well compared to the numbers of Jun’16 where the iron ore production stood at 15.1 MnT.
Odisha’s Iron Ore Output Down in Jun’17
Odisha is India’s largest iron ore producing state which contributes to 50% in country’s ore output. Odisha’s iron ore production was down at 8.11 MnT in Jun’17 against 8.81 MnT in Jun’17. According to provisional data of Odisha govt maintained with SteelMint, the output (comprising of lump, fines & concentrate) was down by 8% in Jun’17.
NMDC’s Iron Ore Production Up 9% in Jun’17
Iron ore production by India’s single largest iron ore producer-National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) was recorded at 2.89 MnT in Jun’17 against 2.65 MnT in May’17. The production by the miner was up by 9% Y-o-Y as well compared to Jun’16.
