Anthracite Coal offers have gained from the week-ago levels in response to the rising price trend of Coking Coal.
International offers for Anthracite Coal have gone up by around USD 3/MT as the prices of Coking Coal were rising. The latest offers for Anthracite Coal are assessed at around USD 133/MT CFR India.
As a matter of fact, Anthracite Coal is often blended with Coking Coal during the steel making process.
In an international round-up, the Pennsylvania-based XCoal Energy and Resources has recently shipped 62,000 MT of Anthracite Coal to Ukraine. This was the first ever Anthracite Coal export from the US to Ukraine. The shipment was an outcome of an agreement of the American company with the Ukrainian energy company, Centerenergo, on 31 July’17 to provide 700,000 MT of Anthracite Coal.
In India, the demand remained lackluster, without any prospect for any improvement in the future. There was almost no import affinity among the buyers in the country that is reflected in the insignificant import consignments reaching the Indian ports.
During the 1-23 Aug’17 period, only 47,300 MT of Anthracite Coal was imported in India, data compiled by CoalMint Research shows. The importers were: Indian Metals and Ferro Alloys and KIOCL Limited.
