Indian iron ore exports have been down by 25% in Apr’17. India has exported 3.04 MnT material in the month compared with 4.08 MnT in Mar’17. However the exports were up 37% Y-o-Y compared to the Apr’16 with 2.22 MnT of iron ore.
There was a drop of 20% in iron ore exports from Goa Miners M-o-M. However 64% of the exports in Apr’17 were done by the Goa miners with 1.95 MnT iron ore and Vedanta being top exporter with 25.6% share. Fomento Resources with 0.73 MnT and V M Salgaonkar with 0.41 MnT quantities were 2nd and 3rd largest exporters respectively.
Exports from Odisha (Paradip) fallen drastically for the month of Apr’17 and were registered at 0.12 MnT against 0.68 MnT in Mar’17.
Global average iron ore prices for Apr-17 were USD 70 MT (Fe62%) CNF China over USD 87/MT (Fe62%) CNF China last month.
Country-wise Export: China remains the top destination for Indian iron ore export for the month of Apr-17 with 26% less quantity compared to Mar’17 at 2.58 MnT material which was 3.5 MnT then.
Among others Japan, South Korea, Malaysia was the countries where India exported iron ore in Apr’17.
Port-wise Export: Mormugao have been the largest port to export the iron ore from India with 1.95 MnT material in Apr-17 with 64% share against 2.42 MnT in previous month.
Shipper-wise Export: Vedanta remained the top company with the export of 0.70 MnT iron ore in Apr-17 followed by Fomento Resources with 0.73 MnT material for the month.

Indian Pellet Exports in Apr’17
Indian pellet exports were down also by 34% in Apr’17. India has exported 0.49 MnT material in the month compared with 0.75 MnT in Mar’17. However the exports were up nearly 4 and a half times Y-o-Y compared to the Apr’16 with 0.11 MnT of pellet exports. Essar Steel was the largest exporter with 0.16 MnT pellets followed by BRPL with the quantity of 0.12 MnT.
