India: Hindustan Zinc reports record mined and refined metal output in FY’26

  • Company achieves best-ever quarterly and annual production across key segments
  • Refined zinc output hits record high in FY’26; lead output declines y-o-y

Hindustan Zinc Limited (HZL), the world’s largest integrated zinc producer, reported its strongest-ever quarterly and full-year operational performance for FY’26, driven by higher ore production, improved grades, and enhanced operational efficiencies.

In Q4FY’26, HZL recorded its highest-ever quarterly mined metal production at 315,000 t, supported by increased ore output and better grades. Refined metal production also reached a record 282,000 t, aided by additional capacity unlocked through debottlenecking projects at Chanderiya and Dariba, along with improved plant efficiency and higher availability.

Silver production stood at 176 t, up 11% q-o-q, largely in line with higher lead output. Meanwhile, wind power generation came in at 56 million units (MU), broadly stable in line with wind velocity trends.

For the full year FY’26, HZL reported its highest-ever mined metal production at about 1.1 mnt, reflecting sustained gains in ore production and improved recoveries.

Refined zinc production rose 3% y-o-y to a record 851,000 t, driven by the commissioning of debottlenecking projects, ramp-up of the 160,000 tpa roaster, and pyro operations running on zinc-lead mode throughout the year.

However, refined lead production declined 13% y-o-y to 197,000 t, primarily due to partial operations in lead mode in the previous period and relatively lower plant availability.

Silver production for FY’26 stood at 627 t, largely tracking lead output and reflecting lower silver input from mines in line with the mining sequence.

Wind power generation increased 7% y-o-y to 372 MU, supported by favourable wind conditions.

HZL noted that FY’26 marks a milestone year, with record mined and refined metal output, underpinned by operational improvements and capacity enhancements across its integrated operations.
