India’s Hi-Tech Pipes Limited (HPL) has planned capital expenditure of $68 million to double its tubes and pipes production capacity to 2 million ton per year from 1 million ton per year, as the company seeks to strengthen its position in the steel pipes and tubes market, the company said on Wednesday, 19 August. The expansion will be undertaken across its facilities in Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat.
The company plans to spend an estimated $2 million during the current fiscal year 2026-27, with the remaining capital expenditure to be incurred through fiscal year 2028-29.
As part of the expansion program, HPL will add a Direct Forming Technology (DFT) pipes and tubes facility at its Sanand facility in Gujarat, which is expected to become operational by the end of the current fiscal year. The company will also commission an American Petroleum Institute (API) pipes facility at Sanand around the same time.
The company will also expand its production capacity for ERW (electric resistance welded) pipes, specialized solar tubes and other value-added products.
