India: HCL to invest INR 5,500 crore for expanding copper ore mining to over 20 mnt

  • Copper ore producer Hindustan Copper Ltd. (HCL) has planned an investment of INR 5,500 crore for expansion of its ore capacity five-fold from 3.97 mnt to 20.2 mnt by FY’28-29.
  • The state-run company owns copper ore mines in Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Rajasthan.
  • HCL’s copper ore production in FY’22 sat at 3.38 mnt till Feb.
