India: Gangavaram port to receive highest quantity of thermal coal vessels by December end

The vessel-line up data (as on 18 Dec’20) maintained with CoalMint reveals that a total quantity of 2.66 mn t of thermal coal is coming into India between 18-31 December 2020.

  • The highest quantity of 0.44 mn t is set to arrive at Gangavaram port with majority coming from South Africa at 0.33 mn t and rest from Indonesian and Mozambique.
  • Swiss Singapore and Godavari Power are the top two receivers of thermal coal, 0.165 mn t and 0.163 mn t respectively at Gangavaram port.
  • Following Gangavaram, Vizag is the second port to receive highest volume of shipments of 0.25 mn t thermal coal with 0.14 mn t coming from Australia and 0.11 mn t from Indonesia.
  • Navlakhi port is next in line to receive 0.23 mn t of thermal coal with all the quantity coming from Indonesia.

  • In case of vessels coming in from Indonesia, both Coastal Gujrat Power and Agarwal Coal at set to welcome shipments of 0.17 mn t.
  • For South African coal, SM Niryat has highest quantity of 0.17 mn t coming in at Kolkata port while from Australia, JSW Energy has highest quantity coming in (0.15 mn t) at Jaigarh port.

Swiss Singapore tops the buyers’ list

Amongst traders, Swiss Singapore tops the list with 0.22 mn t of thermal coal expected to arrive at Indian ports (with 0.17 mn t coming from South Africa) followed by Adani Enterprise at 0.21 mn t (majority coming in from Indonesia).

In case of end users, Coastal Gujrat Power is receiving highest quantity (0.18 mn t) entirely from Indonesia followed by Godavari Power (0.17 mn t) entirely from South Africa.
