India: Ferrous scrap imports remain limited on bid-offer imbalance

India’s scrap import market continues to witness limited trading, as per SteelMint reports. Indian buyers are less interested in booking imported scrap and trades slowed down due to falling steel margins.

  • SteelMint’s biweekly assessment for UK/Europe-origin containerised shredded scrap stands at $540-545/t CFR Nhava Sheva, up by around $5/t against the end of last week. Sources informed that there are only limited bids at present, lower by $10/t compared with prevailing offers.
  • Assessments for UAE-origin HMS 1 are now at $485-490/t CFR, while assessments for HMS 1&2 (80:20) are at $470-475/t, CFR.
