India: Ferro silicon prices remain stable amidst moderate demand

Indian ferro silicon prices remain stable despite moderate demand from the domestic market. Currently, the prices are at INR 79,000/t both in Bhutan and Guwahati. However, some bulk deals have been done at lower prices also. However, the invoice prices remain same at INR 80,000/t, but an extra discount is being credited through cash or credit notes which translates to lower prices.

Production was lowered in the northeastern part of the country by some plants due to the ongoing festivals. Meanwhile, Bhutan is still facing labour shortage and thus delays in dispatches. However, plants in Bhutan are transporting material on a regular basis.

Meanwhile, the demand for exports remained subdued. Although, the international market has picked up, yet prices in the domestic market are more acceptable to the suppliers. However, as buyers in the domestic market look towards the down-trending steel market, prices could decrease in the coming weeks.
